British tabloid the Daily Mail came under fire for tracking an individual in Detroit after wrongly identifying her as White Stripes drummer Meg White. The newspaper trailed and snapped pictures of the incorrect individual during its effort to track down the private artist. A number of publications reported on the major blunder. The Guardian, Consequence of Sound, The New European and VICE each documented the blunder. VICE labelled the situation a total confusion while looking for the 2000s-era star. The tabloid had boasted about uncovering the star's off-stage life yet ended up pursuing a completely unrelated Detroit resident.
