Skyrocketing homeless rates, a mounting economic crisis and a lack of nutritious food in the Seattle-Puget Sound area are negatively impacting health. To sustainably address food and housing insecurity, the American Heart Association is investing in Puget Sound-based organizations that are working to address social and economic barriers to healthy lives in under-resourced communities.

Housing Connector

Housing Connector(link opens in new window)(link opens in new window)(link opens in new window) is a nonprofit business-to-business organization that partners with property owners, managers and service providers to remove barriers that prevent families from home access, ending the cycle of homelessness.

Puget Sound Food Hub Cooperative

Puget Sound Food Hub Cooperative is a farmer-owned cooperative that markets, aggregates and distributes locally produced food from farms to regional institutions that are increasing access to healthy food.

Weld Seattle

Weld Seattle(link opens in new window)(link opens in new window)(link opens in new window) is a nonprofit organization that breaks down the barriers to housing and employment within the Seattle region by providing transitional housing to people reentering society from incarceration, overcoming homelessness and/or active substance addiction.

Chief Seattle Club

Chief Seattle Club is a native-led human service agency that provides a continuum of indigenous-designed trauma-informed housing services integrated with wellness to reduce homelessness for American Indians/Alaska Natives in Seattle/King County. Its staff are equipped with the ancestral knowledge and skills to develop a level of trust that is proven to create positive housing outcomes for the American Indian/Alaska Native community.
